Cate is a Certified Integrative Coach Professional and member of The Coach Success Network. She received her training from the Ford Institute for Integrative Coaching (FIIC) at John F. Kennedy University. Debbie Ford, founder of the FIIC, is a NY Times best selling author and world renowned teacher.
Cate says: "I use life enhancing coaching to help strong, independent people learn how to create healthy boundaries and use their incredible strength and brilliance to take as good care of themselves as they do of others. I am also certified in "Spiritual Divorce" coaching, which helps people use the pain of a lost relationship as a pathway to healing their hearts and creating healthy relationships. I know you can feel better than you have ever felt in your life and have more vitality and enthusiasm. I know that as you learn to make healthy empowering choices, your ability to give and receive love on a deeper level will follow naturally. I trust the integrative coaching process. I know that you can create a life that you love because I've been able to do it!"
Before becoming an Integrative Coach, Cate worked as NY State Licensed Massage Therapist and a Reiki Master Teacher. She taught Reiki as a tool for self-empowerment and personal wellness, believing we can only help others if we are deeply engaged in our own healing process. Her emphasis on the chakra system in using Reiki was inspired by the work of Caroline Myss (Why People Don't Heal, Anatomy of the Spirit and The Creation of Health). She wrote an article entitled: Reiki and Somatoemotional Release that was published in the Winter 2006 issue of The Reiki News Journal.
Cate facilitated a women's mini-retreat and support group that met weekly, using the principles of Integrative Coaching and her experience of 23 years in other healing modalities. She has spoken to women's groups on stress and women's health. She inspired and helped organize an ongoing women's weekend retreat. As a networking resource in her rural community, she helps individuals find appropriate alternative and traditional health care. Cate acts as an advocate and resource for parents of children in public school who have special needs and learning differences. Having cared for both of her aging parents, she saw them through their final illnesses with the help of Hospice. She helps others face difficult decisions and find resources to care for loved ones.
As a lifetime member or Weight Watchers, Cate recognizes the value of a support group. She inspired a support group for teens in her community with the help of another volunteer from the local school. The teens named their "self-esteem" group LIFESTYLES with the goal of caring for themselves from the inside out by making healthy choices every day for their physical and emotional well-being.
Cate takes Pilates, Cycling Class, ZUMBA and Latin Dance. She weight trains regularly. She also spends time in silent meditation. Her dog, Buddy, never let's her forget a daily walk.
Cate stays connected to the coaching community and continues her education. She is a mentor to coaches in training and currently is assisting as Staff Coach in a training program. She is a reviewer for final exams and assessment. She has assisted Debbie Ford and staff in The Shadow Process Workshop at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY and in San Diego, CA. She is a trained leader, having completed Leadership Training with Debbie Ford in February of 2008. She is a certified in Spiritual Divorce Coaching, Best Year of Your Life Coaching, and Blueprint (Shadow) Coaching. She is licensed to facilitate The Shadow Effect guided interactive workshop.
Cate says: "It was by chance but no accident that I was delivered to Debbie Ford's work. I attended a workshop at Omega the same weekend as a Shadow Process. Almost everyone I met was involved: staff, assistants, participants, all eager to share their experiences Simultaneously, I was interested in becoming a life coach, because my bodywork clients shared with me that the simple questions I asked caused them to look at their lives from a different perspective and make profound changes! At the same time, I was struggling to fit ME into my own hectic, overly committed life of chronically caring for others. The Shadow Process and coaching training were transformational. As I created healthy boundaries, I began to deeply know and love all of who I am. My acceptance grows each day. I trust the ability of each of us to create authentic lives. I know that as we embrace our humanity and reach for our divinity, we inspire others to do the same."
Cate lives with her husband, Win, in Upstate NY. In 2009, they completed and moved into their "dream" house in a lovely pine meadow in Saratoga County just a few miles from the Adirondack Park. This was the realization of a shared vision directly accomplished through their work with integrative coaching.
Cate has a son, Nick, who visits often and is exploring "what's next" in his adult life. Cate's grown stepsons Sean and Bryan prefer the warmer climate of Arizona.
At home they are enriched by their pets -- "Buddy dog" along with adorable Snowshoe Siamese Max and Boomer, a half-siamese spitfire-of-an-orphan-rescue cat.
Mountain View was partly inspired by the view from their former country farmhouse looking north across the Mohawk Valley to their beloved Adirondack Mountains 25 miles away. It has inspired their move in 2009 to be closer to the Adirondack Park.
A note about hiking: Cate started hiking in her - well - middle age! Before she met Win, she was encouraged to hike by an avid hiker who was a patient and encouraging mentor. The first hike was as awful as it was beautiful. She was paralyzed with fear as she crossed wet slippery rocks and precipitous views. Making it to the top and back, frustrated, exhausted and in pain, she threw away her hiking books and vowed NEVER AGAIN! But a seed was planted. Her passion for hiking grew and was fueled by the encouragement of her mentor, new hiking boots, orthotics, physical training, weight loss and the vision of reaching the top! Though it is always a challenge, the view from the top is worth the effort!
